5 Core Values of Barkai Yeshivah

Torah

The Torah is the framework that binds Yisrael with the Creator and guides us to His service. Barkai implements a system of Torah learning that is sequential and comprehensive. Torah is studied in a unique way that creates a robust framework for thought and deed.

Hebrew

Excellence in Hebrew is a fundamental element to understanding Torah. Barkai immerses its students in the language upon entry. All Torah classes are taught in Hebrew and the nuances of grammar, accurate literacy, and appropriate pronunciation are all deemed essential components to a complete grasp of the language and thus, Torah.

General Studies

Barkai sees excellence in general studies as an essential component to the true ben/bat Torah. To have an excellent understanding and proficiency in subjects like mathematics, science, history, poetry, literature, music, and art is to have an excellent understanding of the world that G-d created. A Barkai student is taught that to know the world is to know G-d.

Warmth and Dedication

Small class sizes and personal attention are cornerstones of our institution. We believe the only way to teach a child is to teach particularly to the child’s unique mind and soul. We aim to hire teachers that are dedicated to their students and love their profession.

Identity

Knowledge of personal history is essential in achieving a full identity. Barkai imbues its students with a strong knowledge of personal heritage in its approach to study, custom, and culture.

We teach our students to examine their thoughts and deeds guiding them to refine their character and build integrity.

We further recognize that burning at the center of the Jewish heart through all generations is the awareness that our people call only one land “home”. The love and commitment to Eres Yisrael as our sole place on Earth -- our only home -- is in the heart and mind of every student.
